Information about the European Society of Radiology (ESR)

 

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is an apolitical and non-profit organization that was established in December 2005. The headquarters of ESR is situated in Vienna, Austria. ESR strives to support and harmonize the professional, scientific, philanthropic and intellectual activities of Radiology within all European countries.

 

What is Radiology?

Radiology is the field of medicine that deals with the study and application of imaging technology, complicated equipment and advanced computers to diagnose and treat diseases such as cancer inside a patient’s body. There is a wide range of imaging technology that includes nuclear medicine, ultra sound, computed tomography, Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Axial Tomography. Muscle relaxants are commonly used during radiology procedures to numb down the patients.
